Raven makes the most beautiful wall maps. Period. For big-picture dreaming, check out their North America Map ($40 paper, $60 laminated), one of the few maps I've seen that portrays the continent in its entirety. For more local dreaming, Raven produces a striking series of State Maps ($30 paper, $50 laminated).
AMC White Mountain Tyvek Map Set
Anybody who ever hikes in the White Mountains should have this map set in their library ($29.95, members $23.96). The same maps come with AMC's White Mountain Guide ($24.95, $19.96), but are paper and much less durable than these indestructible, waterproof Tyvek versions that last forever.
Mount Washington Map by Bradford Washburn
One of the most precise maps I've ever seen, this map ($10.95, $8.76 members) is part topographic map, part art, and an outstanding example of both. A must-have for anybody interested in Mount Washington.
DeLorme Atlases and Gazetteers
These state atlases ($19.95 to $24.95) make a great addition to any vehicle. If the driver is like me, they'll reference it a lot to navigate the often screwy roads and highways of the Northeast. Lots of info on outdoor destinations and activities is a bonus. DeLorme is based in Yarmouth, Maine—I highlighted the company and its products in a recent post.
